This is a Work in Progress
1836Pure and Forsaken clash over territorial rights behind a screen of the Second Seminole War. Powerful spirits of bloodlust are spawned and a few Unihar as well. The two factions fight each other and internally over the next five years. Predator Kings breed with Seminoles in the Everglades, starting a line of uragarum. The Miami populace is severely depleted by the war and the Forsaken lose many of their kin. Pure losses are significant but not as bad.
1894 - 1895The Great Freeze and the introductions of the railway produces upheaval in the hisil. A pack of Forsaken, the Winds of Helios, defeat the Jaggling spawned by the freeze and bind it thus preventing damage to the Miami area territories, but the effort costs them half their members. The influx of settlers brings new packs with it to the “freeze-proof” lands. The railway leads to an influx of industrial choirs as well, following the stitch-like scars across the Shadow.
1920The 20’s show an increasing prevalence in spirits of misery and despair, along with apathy. The Pure emerge from the everglades in 1926, slaying many Forsaken and destroying several packs. Survivors re-group. By the time of the Great Depression such choirs increase in strength beyond the ability of the Forsaken or Pure to manage them. Damage control is run but the Forsaken are at depleted numbers and can only do so much. Ridden and Urged abound. The rapid rise of industry in the previous four decades only means the artificial choirs grow stronger as more of the natural spirits are pushed back. Water elementals, pushed back with the everglades, grow resentful.
1940’s (WW2)With the outbreak of World War Two, the area springs up with military bases and the Miami lands bristle with War spirits. Fear spirits manifest as pericopes or U-Boats in the dark waters, stalking the territories. Spirits of patriotism, while hard to appease, are more easily courted by the Forsaken and respect their duty more readily. Those Forsaken, primarily Iron Masters, involved in the war industry are able to curry favors and begin turning Miami to the Tribes of the Moon’s advantage. Several younger Forsaken do go overseas to fight or are drafted.
1945Men return from overseas, many settling in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Several Forsaken return with them, having earned hard-won battle experience they’d not have otherwise obtained so early. These men go on to become alphas of packs and the resultant increase in births also sees an increase in Forsaken prowess. When the Pure raid Miami under cover of Hurricane King, the Forsaken are ready for them. Several Predator King and Fire-Touched alphas are slain along with many of their packs. The Pure retreat to the everglades to lick their wounds.
1947The Fort Lauderdale Hurricane causes major flooding. The lack of drainage bred heavy numbers of mosquito and disease spirits, made all the worse by a Beshilu infestation. Holes in the gauntlet are opened and hithim merge to spread their influence. Forsaken seal the worst of the damage but the gauntlet remains thin in some areas to this day. The Pure raid under cover of the storm but fail to make appreciable gains against a coordinated Forsaken retaliation.
1950’s-1970’sThe Cold War begins and refugees from Cuba become more and more common. With them come Ivory Claws, making their inroads amongst the displaced populace and using their resources to secure a base of power. Forsaken react, trying to push them back out, but the Pure are able to use their human kin to interact far more readily with the immigrating populace. Paranoia becomes commonplace and many Forsaken participate in building bomb shelters also. The fear choirs suffuse the area, but many of the alphas from WW2 are able to keep firm holds on their territories. The incoming immigrants from Cuba and Haiti bring many native spirits with them, resulting in minor clashes within the Shadow. Spirits of lust and ecstasy remain prolific in Fort Lauderdale in the coming years as it’s reputation as a Spring Break destination spreads.
1981The Liberty City riots allow the Forsaken to move against the Pure and beat them back from several territories, using the distraction of the human police to move in secret. A few Forsaken are lost but the conflict favors them heavily. Urgings are common over the riots and a few Claimed emerge as well. Most are dealt with summarily and judiciously. The increase in drug trade reflects in the hisil
1992Hurricane Andrew hits Miami in August and hits the city hard. It was months before power was fully restored and longer before the damage was gone. Even now there are places that still bear scars of that day. It was a time of great turmoil and upheaval not only for the mortal population, but for the supernatural as well. Everything changed with Andrew. Buildings fell, people died, empires crumbled. Still, life goes on.
The Consilium’s thearch Hierarch Pericles is killed along with his cabal during the hurricane. The Pure launch a concentrated attack on the Forsaken in the Miami area, slaying many packs and reclaiming/destroying loci and territory over the next several days before stopping. Many of the WW2 alpha’s were slain. The Forsaken have yet to recover from the blow and regain the numbers they once had. The hisil is thrust into upheaval and some areas of it bear the scars to this day. The Haitian Krewe (name pending) were on a boat coming up from Haiti. Bad timing led to them getting caught in the storm. Their boat capsized and they went down. Everyone on board that boat was brought back, Bound, and they all found each other again in Miami and consecrated/Founded their Krewe.
1999The Guardians appoint their most senior member, Telamon, to the position of Epopt.
2000Riots over the fate of Elián González move through Little Havana but the turmoil causes it’s Ivory Claw custodians little trouble.
2001Telamon is believed to be killed in a raid on a Pentacle safe house, only to reappear several weeks later.
2006Telamon is once again believed killed during a Pentacle seizure of territory in northern Miami. He reappears in early 2007.
2008The global economic crisis hits Miami just as hard as anywhere else. Spirits of apathy and despair grow all the stronger, including some of the more powerful ones from the Great Depression gaining enough essence to rouse themselves from slumber again. The Ministry of Mammon, bolstered by the growing rich/poor divide in Miami, begins to rocket in power inside the city. The mayoral election is fraught with scandal as the incumbent is arrested in a human trafficking case just a month before the election. This allows Marcus Durant to take his place as mayor.
2010A major Beshilu outbreak infests the Port of Miami from shard carriers brought from abroad. Several crew members are taken over and made into hybrids. The Forsaken move quickly, sneaking into the bowels of the ship, and finishing off the worst of the Hosts. Several shards escape.
2012The Ministry of Technocracy forms from the Ministry of Mammon, Ministry of Pantechnicon, and several smaller ministries worshipping the Chancellor. Presenting the first truly united front for a seal, they ascend to Greater Ministry status, displacing the ailing Hegemonic Ministry.
